On the surface, Snape appears to be greasy, sinister, and vindictive, but he is in reality the bravest and most reliable of Dumbledore's supporters. Snape does go down as one of the most courageous, intelligent, and skilled wizards in the Harry Potter universe. He is the only wizard to master Occlumency so expertly that he is able to deceive the Dark Lord himself and serve as a double agent for years. He is also duels master. He is a Head of the House of Slytherin.
