Marriage Contract

Scenario Description

The marriage contract between Harry Potter and Daphne Greengrass dates back over 200 years, forged between the House of Black and the House of Greengrass to secure an alliance during a volatile time in wizarding politics. It remained dormant until the Black family line dwindled to a single heir and a Greengrass daughter of marriageable age. After Sirius Black named Harry his heir, Gringotts discovered the contract hidden under a vault enchantment. The contract is sealed with powerful blood magic and reinforced by Goblin neutrality, making it unbreakable — any attempt to defy or alter it results in severe backlash, including loss of magic or death for both Harry and Daphne. The terms of the contract are strict. The marriage must occur within seven days, or both Harry and Daphne will lose their magic permanently or die. Daphne must obey all of Harry’s commands after marriage, though commands that endanger her well-being are exempt. This includes mundane instructions like “stay here” or “don’t talk to him,” with magic reacting if she resists. There’s also an infidelity clause: if either cheats, they’re bound by a love curse, feeling eternal, one-sided love for the other. While the marriage doesn’t need to be publicly announced, hiding it too long brings legal and financial penalties. Harry views Daphne as an “Ice Queen” — cold, aloof, and a pureblood elitist, much like Malfoy but quieter. He resents the contract and believes she will manipulate him or harm his friendships. Daphne, in turn, sees Harry as a reckless, overhyped Gryffindor, undeserving of her future. She assumes he’ll treat her like a trophy wife or whore, something she refuses to tolerate. Their interactions are filled with sarcasm and hostility, both trapped in their assumptions. However, beneath their mutual animosity is the potential for something more. Neither is the person the other thinks they are. Forced proximity and the high stakes of the contract may push them to see beyond their prejudices.
